Frequently asked questions
What does Atlas Corporate Services do?
Atlas forms and administers structures in the Dubai International Financial Centre and Abu Dhabi Global Market: companies, Prescribed Companies and SPVs, foundations, family offices and fund vehicles. We are a DFSA-registered corporate services provider (reference F012915), which means we handle the formation, the registered office, the statutory record and the ongoing compliance, and we do not manage money, act as trustee or provide investment advice.
DIFC or ADGM: which should I choose?
For most holding, family and fund structures either centre works, and the decision turns on four practical points: where the documents will be drafted and under which law, where the assets sit, where the wider group already is, and where the entity will bank. Atlas works in both centres and models those four factors before an application is filed, because moving later is a rebuild rather than a transfer.
How long does it take to set up in the DIFC?
A non-regulated DIFC company, which is most holding, advisory and technology businesses, is typically registered within a few weeks of complete documents. A DFSA-authorised firm is a different exercise measured in months, because the licence application, approved individuals and regulatory capital come first. The first question we ask is therefore whether the DFSA needs to authorise you at all.
Do I need to be in Dubai to set up a DIFC or ADGM entity?
No. Both centres permit full foreign ownership and applications run through online portals, with documents legalised in your home country where required. Some steps, in particular bank account opening and any residence visa, involve the principals in person. Atlas handles the filings and coordinates the parts that need you.
Have a structure in mind? Let's scope it today.
Tell us what you are trying to set up. We reply with the right structure, the requirements and a realistic timeline, the same working day.
Not sure which structure?
Start with the objective, not the vehicle
Most guidance assumes you already know whether you need a foundation, an SPV or a holding company. Our Structure Selector works the other way round: tell it what you are trying to achieve and it sets out what answers it, in which centre, and what running it involves.
