Frequently asked questions
Which Atlas service do I need?
It depends on what the entity has to do. If it will trade, employ or advise, start with DIFC company setup. If it will only hold assets, a Prescribed Company or SPV. If the question is who owns the family's assets and how they pass on, a DIFC Foundation. If you are raising or managing money for others, fund setup. If you are not sure, the Structure Selector asks the eight questions we would ask on a first call and points you at the right page.
Is Atlas regulated?
Atlas Corporate Services is registered with the Dubai Financial Services Authority as a Designated Non-Financial Business or Profession, reference F012915, which is the status a corporate services provider holds in the DIFC. That is a registration, not an authorisation to provide financial services: Atlas does not manage money, act as trustee or give investment advice. Where a structure needs an authorised firm, we say so and work alongside one.
Do you work in ADGM as well as the DIFC?
Yes. Atlas forms and administers companies, SPVs, foundations and family office structures in both centres, and the choice between them is usually the first thing we help a client decide. The comparison guides on this site are written from that position rather than from a single-centre one.
Do you administer the entity after it is formed, or only form it?
Both, and the administration is the larger part of the relationship. Formation takes weeks; the registered office, statutory registers, beneficial ownership filings, confirmation statements, licence renewals and corporate tax returns run for as long as the entity exists. For a DIFC Prescribed Company that appointment is now mandatory unless the company is exempt.
Who does the accounting and tax work?
Accounting, financial statements, VAT and corporate tax compliance are delivered through the wider Atlas group, which includes the group's accounting and tax practice. Your Atlas contact coordinates it so that the corporate record and the financial record are kept by people who talk to each other.
